Position Description
Primary purpose:
o Secure barges to cleaning docks and remove debris. Assure the work being performed consistently meets or exceeds the expectations of the supervisor as well as published policies and procedures.
Essential duties and
Responsibilities:
o Assist and secure barges to the cleaning docks.
o Removal and replacement of barge covers.
o Removal of debris and cleaning of barges with shovels, brooms, and high pressure water.
o Comply with all local, state, federal, and company regulations.
o Attend daily/weekly safety meetings with assigned crew.
o Administer general marine preventative maintenance activities and housekeeping tasks along with other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Education:
High School Graduate or equivalent.
Competencies, skills, and abilities:
o Ability to accept supervision/direction and work effectively and cooperatively with other people.
o Ability to focus attention and follow work rules.
o Successful completion of background check and post-offer drug screen.
o Ability to attain and maintain TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) as issued by TSA (Transportation Security Administration).
Physical demands:
o While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must meet physical requirements including but not limited to, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up/down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces, and frequently lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Working conditions:
o Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required.
o Perform work in dusty environment and all types of temperature/weather conditions.
o The noise level in the environment is usually loud.
o Must be available for assignments at multiple berths within a 10 mile radius.
